Application Process

Master of Science - Counseling Psychology

Cohorts for the MS in Counseling Psychology program begin in fall semesters and take two years of coursework, followed by one year of internship.  Deadline to apply is February 15. Applications after February 15 will be considered based on availability within the cohort; however, applicants that complete the process prior to February 15 will be given priority.

Interested candidates must follow the below procedures. All application materials must be received by February 15.

1. Apply:  Application can be made 在线. Students who are unable to apply 在线 may email gradservices@volamdolong.com and request a paper copy which may be downloaded, printed and sent to the below address:

2. Send all official undergraduate and graduate transcripts to: (FSU alumni do not need to send FSU transcripts as FSU Office of Graduate Services will have access to alumni transcripts).  However, all transcripts outside of FSU must be sent. We also accept electronic transcripts emailed to gradservices@volamdolong.com.

3. Students who do not have a 3.0 GPA must submit official scores of the GRE General Test or MAT. Minimum required GRE score of 300 (V+Q) or MAT of 410.

4. 提交 supplemental application materials that include: 1) statement of purpose, 2) resume and 3) three recommendations.  The supplemental statement of purpose and resume should be uploaded during the 在线 application.  View instructions for the statement of purpose. They are also provided within the 在线 application instructions.   Students who are submitting paper applications must send copies of the supplemental materials to include a personal statement，简历，以及 three recommendation forms.  Letters from references can be accepted in lieu of forms.  At least 2 of the 3 required recommendations should be academic references if possible.
Students who are applying 在线 will provide the contact information for each reference and FSU will send the reference an electronic request for recommendation.  If applying via paper application, applicants should provide the reference a form to complete and mail directly to FSU.  FSU Graduate Services, 101 Braddock Rd, Frostburg, MD 21532


5. After all application documents have been received, the Office of Graduate Services will send the file to the Program Coordinator for review. Shortly, following the February 15 deadline, students are selected and invited for interview.  Interviews are generally scheduled in Spring between February 16 and April.
